Toward the end of April, fans got their first peek at the actress who has taken over the role of Rachel on Days of Our Lives and the little cutie has landed yet another role — and it’s a familiar one. TVLine is reporting that Alice Halsey has been cast to play a young Laura Ingalls in Netflix’s upcoming adaption of the renowned semi-autobiographical books.
Back in January, we first alerted readers of the reboot based on the 1970/1980s classic with a revised version of the books. Viewers will also get to see parents Charles and Caroline and her sister Mary as the story is told through Laura’s eyes. “Laura is a disruptor. Honest to a fault. Questions authority,” read the official character description posted by our sister site. “She’s our window into this adventure. An American icon in waiting.”
So, what can viewers expect to see in the new adaption?
With stakes high for 19th century children, they have both responsibilities and freedoms — and there will be no shortage of petty disputes between Laura and Mary. Laura doesn’t always stick true to the ladylike behavior expected of her but remains fearless like her dad and honest like her mother. Fiercely loyal, she will stand up to those exhibiting cruel and unjust behaviors and remains devoted to her beloved dog Jack. No matter what, the details in which she sees around her are filed away for stories that she can someday share with the world.
