Sad news has hit the daytime industry again this year… Soap alum Mark Dobies passed away at 65 on March 11, as first reported by The Locher Room. He began his acting career in 1997 and made a name for himself in daytime with his breakout role in 2000.
Soap viewers first saw Dobies in the role of Dr. Noah Chase on Guiding Light. Though he and Reva were engaged, in the end, Noah refused to marry her, due to her evident feelings for Josh. From Springfield to Llanview, in 2003, Dobies landed his most recognizable daytime role as Daniel Colson on One Life to Live. The district attorney married Nora, only to be revealed later that he was gay.

Though Dobies crossed his character over to All My Children in 2005, after leaving daytime behind, he turned up in various primetime series including CSI: Miami, Fringe, Gossip Girl and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He also appeared in the films Perception, Haskett’s Chance and Greater.
The actor had other notable guest roles prior to his daytime debut on such popular shows as Just Shoot Me!, Home Improvement, Nash Bridges, Everybody Loves Raymond and popped into Melrose Place as a friend of Eve’s, played by General Hospital’s Rena Sofer (Lois). When it came to the stage, he stepped into the part of Bruce in 2004’s off-Broadway revival of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart.
