Veteran actor John Capodice passed away on Monday, December 30, at the age of 83, as announced on the New Jersey Pizzi Funeral Home’s website. Though the Hollywood star was well-known for many, many film and primetime roles, he turned up in daytime over the years as well.
Capodice landed his first soap opera role in 1978 playing Lloyd Lord on Ryan’s Hope for six episodes before turning up on Another World in a 1987 episode as Luigi. In 1989, he was seen briefly on As the World Turns as Dr. Angelo Antinucci and it wasn’t until 1994 when he made a big splash on General Hospital as Carmine Cerullo, the original portrayer of Lois’ father.

The actor also appeared on a few primetime soaps like Knots Landing, as Captain Newton, and Melrose Place, as Officer Marty Gold, and had a slew of other hit series under his belt, including stints on Kate & Allie, Seinfeld, True Blood, Law & Order, Ellen, Six Feet Under, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and so many more. With over 155 credits to his impressive resume, one of Capodice’s most popular film roles was playing Aguado on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
We send our deepest condolences to Capodice’s wife Jan, their two daughters, Tessa and Cassandra, grandchildren, David, Jake, Frankie and Giuliana, and all of his extended family and friends.
