Great news, General Hospital fans, John J. York is back in the ABC Studios and it’s only a matter of time before the big reveal that Mac is Cody’s father is played out on our screens! The soap shared a photo of the actor standing with Kristina Wagner (Felicia) in the show’s parking lot with the caption, “Mac is back!”

In December 2022, York was diagnosed with MDS (myelodysplastic syndromes) and multiple smoldering myeloma and has since been in treatment for the cancer. And in December 2023, the soap vet gave an update on not only his journey, but when viewers could expect to see Mac back in Port Charles.
“Well, hey there, everyone, it’s me, and I’m checking in…” York stated via video on X then paused to joke about his lack of facial hair. He went on to explain that he shaved the little bits that were left following his treatment, which caused him to lose his hair.

He continued by giving fans an update that everything is going “very well.” And though he has a long road ahead, York shared that his test results were looking good, and he was feeling good as well, then revealed that hopefully, if things kept going the way they were, he should be back on the ABC soap in late spring or early summer of 2024.
“I just wanted to thank you all so very much for all of your notes and messages of support and encouragement and all the love you’ve been sending my way,” he expressed. “I feel your hugs every day and I thank you very much for that.”
York closed out the video by stating, “One day at a time… we’re going to take care of this.” He then wished fans a very Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy prosperous New Year — and for luck, he rubbed his head and gave a big, beautiful smile for the camera.
